Face to Face

Harmony is the secret of the universe.
Mesmer

In the course of this book, it has been repeatedly suggested that authors and critics have been jaded and antagonistic, short-sighted and limited in their judgments of Anton Mesmer’s work. Mesmer was not without fault. The Doctor may have lacked the wherewithal to fully ground his grand discovery. In the same time and long after, many viewers may have lacked the courage but also the simple sense of mind to take in his capacious idea of the Universal Fluid and the extraordinary phenomena of Animal Magnetism.

It has been noted that the fundaments of his work date back to ancient times of the great Greek teachers and philosophers. The western Bible has many references with commonality to Mesmer’s works as do numerous Hindu scriptures.

The obvious is sometimes the hardest thing to recognize. The more modernized we become, the more complicated we make things. So, Nature and many of its deepest wonders have slipped farther from our grasp.

Mesmer

Mesmer’s revolutionary ideas may have passed over the heads of many just because they were so simple. They unified rather than divided, they were upbuilding instead of separative. They were additive and synthetic. Much of science of his time and since has moved toward parts and pieces, more knowledge and trivia via labeling and naming, categorizing and specializing. That was even the case in 18th century European medicine. How much more so is it today?

Yet, Nature was active in the midst of all things then as it is now. Behind the scenes, within the form and frame of all creation, all bodies, all structures.

There is a chain of beings from the greatest sun to the tiniest atom. All those link, enfold and interact in one generally harmonious whole. They also mirror each other. As Above, So Below.

J.M.A. Servan, in his Doutes …, endeavored to show that the wonder and sublimity of “the correspondence of all the beings between themselves is more than probable, witness the correspondence between the moon & the sublunary bodies, proven by thousands of incontestable observations! It is then infinitely probable that this correspondence is maintained by a uniform fluid present everywhere and acting everywhere.”

Looking out through his window, the thoughtful Servan was delightfully struck by “my son and this young elm tree, at the shadow of which I see him seated, these are two beings of the same age, developed and crossed in the bosom of nature by the force of the same agent! they receive and render themselves to the flow of this fluid which circulates from the one to the other for the common good of both! all the beings are then my brothers, & nature is only then a common mother! [Thus] this idea was adopted in all the centuries & by all the enlightened men, that nature makes constantly the greatest things by means of the simplest.”

To those with even a bit of inner vision, Servan’s observations and Mesmer’s discoveries produce mental pictures even more expansive than the great wonders of the Earth circulating around the Sun, explorers circumnavigating the globe, and dissectors elucidating the passage of blood circling around the body via arteries and veins. The energies which Mesmer studied and utilized just went to deeper and subtler levels. As they did, they re-opened grand vistas for the inevitable work of physicians and scientists as well as philosophers and financiers, executives and kings, and the general public.

Coming down to earth, we merely need to recognize that the divine dwells within the whole of creation and waits to be consciously expressed there. The priesthood is slowly being discovered to be found not solely in a god or a priest, a church or a religion but in every human being. So too will the imminent potential for hands-on physicianship be recognized in all. Thence will the light of healing pass freely amongst humanity.

Humans cane be recognized as as focal points of magnetic fire and healing light in the vast chain of life. The sacrificial use of that energy, similar to that which Mesmer demonstrated, must rise to the fore in the coming age.

“It is impossible that we would not find the art that preserves.” It is time for that art to be taught and shared freely for the aid of nations and peoples, neighbors and families. Healing can be offered at the tips of the fingers from all who will give to all who will receive.

Mesmer’s discoveries and doctrines are inevitable steps into more sublime living, relating and healing. They will rise again to create the true revolution which escaped the Frenchmen of the 18th century. Thence we will come face to face with Anton Mesmer and re-discover a path to truth, harmony and unity.

Vive la revolution!
Vive le magnétisme!
Merci, Mesmer!
